We offer free email accounts with certain purchases as well as the option to purchase your own personalised email plans to manage 1 or many EMail accounts. With so many free email sites such as Google or HotMail you
may be wondering why you would need to buy your own from anywhere else! Well, the reason usually relates to one of the following points.
- Site or Brand recognition
- Varied , scalable EMail systems
- Full control of your EMail or Exchange servers
- Unlimited EMail storage space
- Free products and services

Unlike your free Google GMail account a purchased account is associated to your own web site domain name such as myemail@example.com. This looks more professional than myemail@gmail.com and improves brand
awareness for your small business. You can add more employee accounts as needed and manage them from one location like our EMail Manager.
Now some small businesses do conduct their email conversations through Googgle or HotMail but consider how you would easily manage your many accounts in a free offering situation where those accounts are tied to
individuals. It is not straight forward and they will always retain the Google domain name which does not help your small business name.
Size Matters For Email Accounts
Just like in web hosting services the EMail offerings are often shared between many users to produce their own personalised virtual environments. So, behind the scenes the service owner is using hardware and software to
slice up the system for 1000s of users who want the same basic service. Although we can modify our accounts to look and respond in different ways it is fundamentally the same shared service everyone gets. The service provider
will set the shared resources you can consume like your mailbox size. View our Web Based EMail limitations.
For a small business or individual with large volumes of EMail this can quickly be a problem as your emails start to be rejected and you cannot fit any in the mailbox until you take steps to relieve the situation. Again, it is not too
much of a problem until it happens and you urgently need to read an important email via your mobile device on the road! Look out for EMail plans that are scalable, meaning they can grow as your needs do.
For even more control and flexibility a small business should consider a dedicated EMail account solution. This provides Powerful corporate-class email in affordable, flexible packages. See our hosted Exchange corporate
messaging at small business prices here
Accessing Your Email Account
Most EMail service providers allow you to access your email account using a regular web browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. In these cases to logon and view your emails you simply click a link or type into your
Address Bar the location of your web email server logon point, like http://email.BuzzardDomains.com or http://www.gmail.com. Once you have created your account and logon you are presented with a virtual desktop where you can
view, send and manage emails as well as other items like calender appointments. This access method gives you global flexibility to logon and read your emails from anywhere using a computer or more recently, an internet
ready/smart cell phone. In these cases the control of all the data and screens is being delivered to you from a remote source over the internet and can vary greatly in layout and function depending on who is providing your EMail
account service.
There are also EMail software clients that are installed directly into your computer such as Microsoft Outlook, which is part of their Microsoft Office Suite. This software provides you a familiar interface or screens which can be
configured to receive and manage email (and more) from many EMail accounts you might have. An EMail service provider runs hardware and software to support multiple EMail standards such as SMTP IMAP, Exchange and
POP3. What is the difference between IMAP, POP and Exchange? By
configuring your computers EMail client to use the specific providers EMail servers along with your logon credentials it delivers your email right to your desktop. The slight snag for this method of access is it goes with your computer
and would need setting up again if you used another computer. However, as the world sprints towards a mobile stance and electronics go with us everywhere this snag is becoming less important. Read more about making sense of EMail clients, desktop and Mobi in our Help Centre.
As you get more familiar with EMail accounts you will notice there are more features than a simple read and send of your correspondance. For the purposes of this Getting Started article I recommend you read more in the Buzzard Domains Support Centre Forum, User Guides and articles.
